For my brother,

Curt

+

Father God, I come before You right now lifting up my brother Curt. Lord, Your Word says to taste and see that You are good, and that the man who trusts in You is blessed. I anchor this week's prayer there, because Curt is new to walking with You, and the first thing a new believer needs to know is not a list of rules. It is that You are good, and that You can be trusted.

Lord, thank You for Curt. Thank You for what You have already done in his life to bring him to this point. You went looking for him before he was looking for You. That alone is proof of Your goodness, and I ask that he never forget it.

Father, guide him. He is learning what it means to follow You, and there is a lot of noise out there about what that should look like. Cut through it. Give him a hunger for Your Word and a simple trust in what it says. When he reads a promise, let him believe it is for him. When he reads a command, let him see the goodness behind it instead of just the weight of it. Teach him that Your Word is not a rulebook. It is the voice of a good Father who wants to be known.

Lord, deepen his relationship with Jesus. Not a religion. A relationship. Let him learn to talk to You like a Friend and listen to You like a Son. Give him moments this week where he senses that You are near, so he learns early that faith is not just believing things about You. It is walking with You.

Father, I lift up Curt and Jen. Draw them closer to each other as they move toward marriage, and draw them closer to You at the same time. Let their relationship be built on a foundation that holds. Give them honest conversations, shared prayer, and a growing sense that You are the third strand in the cord. Bless what You are building between them.

Surround Curt with brothers who will walk with him. Men who will answer his questions without judgment and remind him that every one of us started somewhere.

And Father, I rebuke every attack of the enemy on Curt in this new season. Satan, you have no authority here. You do not get to convince Curt that he does not belong at this table. You do not get to whisper that he is behind, or that he has to figure it all out before God will accept him. You do not get to use his past to disqualify his future. We see your schemes, and we shut the door on every one of them in the name of Jesus.

Father, build a wall of protection around Curt's heart, his mind, his relationship with Jen, and this new faith You have planted in him. Send Your angels ahead of him into every room this week. Let him feel Your nearness so clearly that the enemy's voice loses every inch of ground it tried to take.

Refill what is empty, Lord. Give Curt moments of joy this week that come out of nowhere, just to remind him that You see him, You delight in him, and You are fighting for him.

I thank You for Curt. I thank You for a brother who said yes. Keep him close.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Taste and see that the Lord is good, brother. I want that to be the first verse that really sinks into you as a new believer, because it tells you how to approach God: not as a judge you have to satisfy, but as a good Father you get to trust.

You are going to have a lot of questions in this season. That is good. Ask them. But underneath every question, hold onto this one thing: He is good. His Word can be trusted. His promises are for you, not just for people who have been at this longer. You do not have to earn your way into His goodness. You are already in it.

And Jen: let God be part of what you two are building. Pray together, even if it feels awkward at first. A relationship that trusts God's goodness together has a foundation the world cannot shake.

  1. Each morning this week, before anything else, say one sentence out loud: “God, You are good, and I trust You with today.” Simple. That is how a relationship starts.
  2. Read Psalm 34 this week, a few verses each day. Underline every phrase that describes what God does for the people who trust Him. You will be surprised how many there are.
  3. Pray with Jen once this week. Out loud. It can be thirty seconds. Just thank God for each other and ask Him to lead you both. Start the habit now.
“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
Psalm 34:8 KJV
